PET/CT in Gynecological Cancers (Clinicians’ Guides to Radionuclide Hybrid Imaging) de Tara Barwick,Andrea Rockall

Descripción - Críticas “The book cover states that it is aimed at referring clinicians, nuclear medicine physicians and radiologists as well as technologists and radiographers. … the book is sufficiently wide in its range that there is probably something here for all of the intended audience.” (Dr. Patrick Fielding, RAD Magazine, Vol. 31, February, 2017)“This volume provides an overview of the modality, as well as other modalities used in the evaluation of this patient population. … The book is well suited to meet the needs of clinicians. … Intended as a pocket guide for clinicians caring for patients with these malignancies, the book provides a high-level overview without delving deeply into the topic. It hits the mark for this purpose.” (Tara Catanzano, Doody's Book Reviews, September, 2016) Reseña del editor This book is a pocket guide to the science and practice of PET/CT imaging of gynecological malignancies. The scientific principles of PET/CT, the radiopharmaceuticals used in the context of gynecological cancers, the role of PET/CT in these patients, the characteristic PET/CT findings, and limitations and pitfalls are all clearly described. In addition, information is provided on clinical presentation, diagnosis, staging, pathology, management, and radiological imaging. The book is published within the Springer series Clinicians' Guides to Hybrid Imaging, which is aimed at referring clinicians, nuclear medicine/radiology physicians, radiographers/technologists, and nurses who routinely work in nuclear medicine and participate in multidisciplinary meetings. Compiled under the auspices of the British Nuclear Medicine Society, the series is the joint work of many colleagues and professionals worldwide who share a common vision and purpose in promoting and supporting nuclear medicine as an important imaging specialty for the diagnosis and management of oncological and non-oncological conditions. PET/CT in Gynecological Cancers / Tara Barwick / Springer ~ This book is a pocket guide to the science and practice of PET/CT imaging of gynecological malignancies. The scientific principles of PET/CT, the radiopharmaceuticals used in the context of gynecological cancers, the role of PET/CT in these patients, the characteristic PET/CT findings, and limitations and pitfalls are all clearly described.

PET/CT and PET/MR in Gynecological Malignancies ~ PET/CT and PET/MR in Gynecological . Although imaging: CT, MRI, PET or PET-CT is recommended for tumors stage > IB2 The additional information is added to the FIGO stage: eg. FIGO IIB-2, cN1, cM1 Cervical carcinoma. Nuclear Medicine, University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland

FDG-PET/CT in Gynaecologic Cancers ~ PET–CT had highest pooled sensitivity, 0.91 (95% CI: 0.88–0.94) Conclusion PET–CT might be a useful supplement to current surveillance techniques, particularly for those patients with an increasing CA 125 level and negative CT or MR imaging.

PET/CT in Colorectal Cancer / Yong Du / Springer ~ This book is a pocket guide to the science and practice of PET/CT imaging of colorectal malignancies. The role of PET/CT in these patients, the characteristic PET/CT findings, and the advantages and limitations of this hybrid modality are all clearly described. In addition, information is provided

Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography (PET ~ A positron emission tomography scan is known as a PET scan. PET scan is a type of test that may be used in cancer treatment. It can be done along with a CT scan. If so, doctors call it a PET-CT scan. But you might also just hear it called a PET scan.

Positron Emission Tomography Imaging of Gynecologic ~ Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging utilizes radiopharmaceuticals that are labeled with positron emitters. After injection of these radiopharmaceuticals, the emitted radiation from the body is registered by external detectors of the PET camera and tomographic images are reconstructed to obtain images of tracer distribution.

A Guide to Clinical PET in Oncology: Improving Clinical ~ In 2001, positron emission tomography/X ray computed tomography (PET/CT) hybrid imaging system became commercially available. An era of clinical PET then emerged, in which PET images were utilized for clinical practice in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer patients. PET imaging could recognize areas of abnormal metabolic behaviour of cancers in

PET Scan: Uses, Side Effects, Procedure, Results ~ If you are undergoing a PET-CT or PET-MRI scan, be aware that metal objects can interfere with the imaging. As such, avoid wearing clothes with snaps, zippers, buckles, or rivets. You should also leave jewelry, piercings, hairpins, or non-essential dental appliances at home.

Gynecologic Cancer and PET/CT / PEPconnect ~ In this session, we will be discussing issues pertaining to women's health and how PET•CT can aid in diagnosis of gynecologic cancers. Some of the topics will include: staging of gynecologic cancers and FIGO grades, the stages in which PET•CT can be most helpful for, relative to diagnosis, and types of gynecological cancers in which PET•CT is diagnostically useful.  Lastly, we will .

Evaluation of Gynecologic Cancer with MR Imaging, 18F-FDG ~ Imaging findings that usually triage a patient to chemoradiation are tumor size and parametrial extension, best seen on MR imaging , and lymphadenopathy, best seen on 18 F-FDG PET/CT . The choice of optimal primary therapy that minimizes morbidity is best achieved when both MR imaging and 18 F-FDG PET/CT are included in the pretreatment work-up ( 4 ).

PET-CT - Docrates ~ PET-CT imaging allows examination of tumor staging and therapeutic response at cellular level. The method makes it possible to detect changes that cannot be observed by any other means. An example of this is metastases in normal-sized lymph nodes.

Applications of PET/CT in breast cancer, NCCN guidelines ~ Conclusions FDG PET/CT is an important clinical tool for breast cancer evaluation because it combines metabolic and anatomic imaging for staging locoregional and distant metastases and monitoring response to therapy. FDG PET/CT has the advantage of using metabolic imaging to detect early metastases that may not be evident on anatomical imaging in higher risk patients and may ultimately alter .

PET/CT - Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography ~ You will be moved into the PET/CT scanner to begin imaging. You will need to remain still during imaging. The CT exam takes place first, followed by the PET scan. On occasion, a second CT scan with intravenous contrast will follow the PET scan. For more information on how a CT scan is performed, see Computed Tomography.

PET-CT–Guided Surveillance of Head and Neck Cancers ~ Summary. Patients with advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck who underwent PET-CT imaging after chemoradiation to determine if they still needed to have surgery had overall survival rates similar to those of patients who underwent planned neck dissection and chemoradiation. PET-CT imaging also resulted in fewer operations and was more cost-effective.
